Construction Team
Findorff-Mortenson is a joint venture of J.H. Findorff & Son Inc. of Madison, and M.A. Mortenson Company of Minneapolis. Together, the two firms have more than 168 years of experience in the construction industry and have completed more than $3 billion worth of building projects in the Madison area. Together, the firms are the project's general contractor and have built the building's structure.
Beginning with the construction of the UW–Madison Armory and Gymnasium (the Red Gym) in 1890, J.H. Findorff & Son has a long history of work on the UW–Madison campus, with more than 100 university projects to its name. Recent examples include the American Family Children’s Hospital and the Health Sciences Learning Center.
Founded in 1954, M.A. Mortenson is considered to be among the nation’s top 50 construction firms, as compiled by the Engineering News Record. Recent Mortenson projects include the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, the Denver Art Museum and the $173 million University of Colorado-Denver Health Sciences Center.
Sub-contractors
Madison-based Terra Construction Co. and Champion Environmental Services, Inc., an environmental remediation, demolition and recycling contractor, managed and performed the deconstruction and excavation of the structures on the block.
Madison-based General Heating and Air Conditioning, Westphal and Co., and Hooper Corporation are installing the building's mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems respectively.
Green Bay-based H.J. Martin & Son, Inc. will install the exterior glass curtain wall in collaboration with Germantown, Wisconsin based Construction Supply & Erection Co., which will construct the terra cotta rain screen exterior walls.
