WID established as Graduate School center
In fall 2007, the University Academic Planning Council approved the proposal (1.5 Mb PDF) for the public Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID), establishing the institute as a center within the Graduate School. The designation culminated months of deliberation by the WID program committee on all aspects of the institute, including its mission, structure, governance, climate, and outreach and educational programs.
Conversations about WID have also taken place in dozens of meetings with committees and individuals across campus, as the program committee has continually sought the reactions of faculty, staff and administrators to its plans. Today, the committee is continuing to discuss many aspects of WID, including the budget.
